This record has been a long time favorite of mine, and in my opinion, is criminally underrated. I included a bonus track from the Bona Fide records comp titled “The Train To Disaster!”, which was The bands Vinyl debut. The Left formed in Hagerstown, Maryland, around 1983, and released this record in 1984. They had Another LP titled,” Last Train to Hagerstown” but broke up before the LP was released. -shotgunsolution.blogspot.com for fans of KBD records

Foetus is the primary musical outlet of industrial music pioneer J. G. Thirlwell. Until 1995 the band underwent various name changes, all including the word foetus. Monikers adopted at different times include Foetus Under Glass, You’ve Got Foetus On Your Breath and Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel. After 1995 the name permanently became Foetus, though the related project The Foetus Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1997 and continues.

Thirlwell acts as the sole instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer for all Foetus works and as such is the only member of the band. Other artists may occasionally collaborate with Thirlwell on Foetus works but are not considered members of Foetus. Thirlwell is solely responsible for the musical output of the band.

J. G. Thirlwell has many side-projects, in which he frequently goes by the name Clint Ruin. One such grouping is Wiseblood with former Swans member Roli Mosimann. The material tends toward the realm of the darkest and most sexual Foetus songs, with Mosimann’s Swans lineage showing in the slow, crushing pacing of many tracks. Thematically, Wiseblood’s lyrics center around the misanthropic exertion of power, typically via murder, sex or assault. Wiseblood existed on-and-off from the mid 1980s through early 1990s.

The group was founded in London in 1979 by Fahey, Woodward and Dallin. Dallin and Woodward had been childhood friends in Bristol since the age of 4 and attended St. George’s School for Girls together. The pair became a trio when Dallin met Fahey while studying fashion journalism. The two became fast friends because they both dressed more radically than the other students. The trio were ardent followers of the punk rockand post-punk music scene during the late 1970s and early 1980s and often performed impromptu sets or backing vocals at gigs for such bands as The Monochrome Set, Iggy Pop, The Jam, Department S and The Nipple Erectors

In 1981, Bananarama’s members were living above the rehearsal room which was used by former Sex Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook. With their help, Bananarama recorded their first demo “Aie a Mwana” (a cover of a song by Black Blood, sung in Swahili). The demo was heard at Demon Records, who offered the girls their first deal. The song was an underground hit and the girls were subsequently signed by Decca (later London Records). They remained on this label until 1993. Bananarama’s previous experience in a recording studio was as background vocalists on the Department S b-side “Solid Gold Easy Action”, a T.Rex cover in early 1981.

During this early period Bananarama were approached by Malcolm McLaren, who suggested he manage the band. MacLaren, manager of the Sex Pistols, Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow, and notorious for generating scandal, proposed some new material that was sexually suggestive, and did not fit with what at the time was the bands tomboyish and straight-forward image. Bananarama passed on both the material and MacLaren as manager.

UK fashion magazine The Face featured an article on Bananarama after their first single, and it caught the attention of ex-Specials member Terry Hall, who invited them to collaborate with his new vocal group Fun Boy Three on the track “T’ain’t What You Do (It’s the Way That You Do It)”. In 1982, the song hit the Top 5 in the UK and gave the girls their first significant mainstream success. Fun Boy Three then guested on Bananarama’s song “Really Saying Something” later that year.

STRYPER “Isaiah 53:5” “The Yellow and Black Attack” 12″ LP Vinyl Record 1984 Version Enigma

STRYPER “Isaiah 53:5” “The Yellow and Black Attack” 12″ LP Vinyl Record 1984 Version Enigma

Inspired by bands such as Van Halen, but distressed by their message, they sought to form a band that would extol their worldview and beliefs. Stryper was originally known as Roxx Regime and comprised brothers Michael Sweet on lead vocals and guitar and Robert Sweet on drums as well as Oz Fox on lead guitar. The name “Stryper” was adopted when bassist Tim Gaines joined the band. The name “Stryper” first came because when they were recording, Robert came up with the name “Stryper” after a passage in Isaiah “with his stripes we are healed” and it also rhymed with hyper. Shortly afterward, they released the EP The Yellow and Black Attack on July 21, 1984. During this period, Stryper opened for bands like Ratt and Bon Jovi, leading some fans and critics to claim that they were not a true Christian band. Stryper’s first full-length album, Soldiers Under Command released on May 15, 1985, was the band’s first gold record, selling more than half a million copies. Capitalizing on this unexpected success and in an attempt to make up for the EP’s extremely limited release (less than 20,000 copies), their record label, Enigma, re-released The Yellow and Black Attack on August 10, 1986 with two new tracks and new cover artwork.
