Wasted Youth was an early 1980s band from London, England which blended early Goth and post-punk with dark acoustic strains of the sort associated with Nick Drake and Syd Barrett. The line-up of the band was Ken Scott (vocals and guitar), Rocco Barker (guitar), Nick Nicole (synth), Darren Murphy (bass) and Andy Scott (drums). Their records were released through Bridgehouse Records, a label set up by the bassplayer’s father in the pub he owned in Canning Town.

Wasted Youth emerged from the remnants of mid 1970s heavy rock band Warrior, fronted by Ken Scott. The band were largely influenced by Black Sabbath until the punk explosion at which point Scott split the group, due to its reluctance to embrace the new sound.

Romeo Void was a New Wave band from San Francisco, California active from 1979 to 1985.

They are best known for the songs “Never Say Never” (1982) and “A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)” (1984), which were minor hits, with the latter becoming a Top 40 pop single. Their popularity was primarily in alternative and college radio, and as a dynamic performing act. They recorded for 415/Columbia Records. The original band members met at the San Francisco Art Institute. Most of the band members were alsovisual artists and did their own album art.

Romeo Void was the subject of a minor controversy in 1985 when the band’s lyrics proved too offensive and led to the removal of CJSW’s rooftop speakers at the University of Calgary, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

After the demise of Romeo Void, Debora Iyall, the lead singer and lyricist, released a solo album in 1986 named Strange Language. She eventually put together and sang in the groups Knife in Water and Lower East Venus. John Haines played drums for Pearl Harbor and the Explosions.

The band was reunited briefly in 2004 for a one-off concert by VH-1’s Bands Reunited, although Benjamin Bossi was unable to perform due to hearing loss. The band wrote and recorded four demo tracks in October 1993 (If I Was Your Cat, Stormy Eyes, Two Rivers, and Safe Place), which were sent to Sony Music but never released.

The song “Never Say Never” was featured in the 1984 film Reckless, the 2004 comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and the 2002 videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as part of the New wave radio station Wave 103. In 2009 the band Julien-K covered Never Say Never on their debut album Death to Analog, listing the song title as Nvr Say Nvr.

Humans were a Santa Cruz new wave band, formed in 1976 as The Mysterious People. They changed their name to Humans in 1979. Leader Sterling Storm’s style was similar to that of Wall Of Voodoo’s Stan Ridgway, while bassist Eric Gies wrote mostly quirky ballads. They continued to play in the Bay Area into the late 1980s and also managed to make a long-form video to accompany their I.R.S. LP, Happy Hour, before breaking up.[1] Storm has since become a successful production designer.

Demon are an English rock/metal group, formed in 1979 by vocalist Dave Hill and guitarist Mal Spooner, both hailing from Leek, Staffordshire. They drew their initial audience from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement in 1980.

The original line-up was completed by Les Hunt (Lead guitar), Chris Ellis (bass guitar) and John Wright (drums). The band were signed by Mike Stone’s Clay Records in 1980 and licensed to Carrere Records to join their stable of metal bands. Their debut album, Night of the Demon, was released in 1981.

After their 1982 follow-up album, The Unexpected Guest, the band experimented beyond the NWOBHM sound and moved the band in a more melodic direction whilst still retaining the more traditional heavy metal black magic lyrical style.[1]

In 1983 Demon took a change in direction.[1] The Plague marked a swing towards a more progressive sound. Lyrically the band also changed direction, switching to a more overtly political style that was to characterise their albums for the rest of their career.[1] The following album, the Pink Floyd influenced British Standard Approved (1984), released on the small independent Clay label, was not a huge commercial success, and with the death of Mal Spooner later that year, it appeared that the band would soon fold.[1]

However Heart of Our Time (1985) showed that the remaining members of the band were determined to continue, and it was the start of a new songwriting partnership between Hill and Watts. Although the album is regarded as the weakest of the bands releases, it paved the way for the critically acclaimed Breakout (1987) and its follow up Taking the World by Storm (1988).[1] The band continued releasing material throughout the 1990s, and despite several line-up changes continue to record and tour whilst maintaining a loyal and hardcore cult following throughout Europe.

CONDITION: Excellent condition. VG+ (light discoloration on sleeve looks cool)

The Damned are an English punk band formed in London in 1976. They are notable for being the first punk rock band from England to release a single (“New Rose”), an album (Damned Damned Damned), and to tour the United States. The Damned later evolved into one of the forerunners of the gothic genre.

They have incorporated numerous styles into their music and image, including: garage rock, psychedelic rock, cabaret, and the theatrical rock of Screaming Lord Sutch and Alex Harvey. Lead singer Dave Vanian’s vocal style has been described as similar to a crooner. The Damned have dissolved and reformed many times, with Vanian as the sole constant member. However, the lineups have always included either guitarist Captain Sensible and/or drummer Rat Scabies, who are both founding members. The current line-up includes Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxy Moron, Pinch and Stu West.
