Aerosmith is the eponymous debut album by American rock band Aerosmith, released in 1973. The album was recorded in two weeks at Intermedia Studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Much of the album is heavily blues influenced. The song Walkin’ the Dog is a cover song originally performed by Rufus Thomas. Also featured on the album is “Dream On” which became an American top ten single when re-released in 1976. “Dream On” was first released as a single in 1973, The Album peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200.

The original cover, misprinted the song “Walkin’ The Dog” as “Walkin’ The Dig”. When a second pressing of the album was released in 1976, this error was corrected, and the cover replaced with a modified one made up entirely of the photo of the band members. This second pressing is the more commonly available version of the LP. When reissued on CD in 1993 as a remastered version, the original first pressing artwork was used.

ABBA was a Swedish pop music group formed in Stockholm in 1972, consisting of Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Fältskog. Throughout the band’s existence, Fältskog and Ulvaeus were a married couple, as were Lyngstad and Andersson – although both couples later divorced. They became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music, and they topped the charts worldwide from 1972 to 1983. ABBA gained international popularity employing catchy song hooks, simple lyrics , sound effects (reverb, phasing) and a Wall of Sound achieved by overdubbing the female singers’ voices in multiple harmonies. As their popularity grew, they were sought after to tour Europe, Australia, and North America, drawing crowds of ardent fans, notably in Australia.

Rock and Roll Over is an album by hard rock band Kiss. Rock and Roll Over was written by singer-songwriter Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss. This album was recorded at the Star Theatre, and in order to get the proper drum sound, Peter Criss recorded the drum tracks in a bathroom, communicating via video-link with the rest of the band. Criss’s vocals are featured on the tracks “Baby Driver” and “Hard Luck Woman.” Paul Stanley, who originally wanted the song to be sung byRod Stewart, gave it to Criss, after Simmons insisted Criss sing the song instead. Although the single did not equal the success of “Beth,” it did become another Top 20 single for the group. Rock and Roll Over was the first Kiss album to ship Gold and would eventually rise to Double Platinum status. It was certified Platinum on January 5, 1977, when it sold 1,000,000 copies and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard pop albums chart. The cover artwork was created by artist Michael Doret who has recently worked with Kiss again on their 2009 album Sonic Boom.

AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock and are considered a pioneer of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as rock and roll.

AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1977 for the album Powerage. Within months of recording the album Highway to Hell, lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released their highest selling album, Back in Black.

The band’s next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, was their first album to reach number one in the United States. AC/DC declined in popularity soon after drummer Phil Rudd was fired in 1983 and was replaced by future Dio drummer Simon Wright, though the band resurged in the early 1990s with the release of The Razor’s Edge. Phil Rudd returned in 1994 (after Chris Slade, who was with the band from 1990–1994, was asked to leave in favour of him) and contributed to the band’s 1995 album Ballbreaker. Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000 and was well received by critics. Since then, the band has stayed the same with the 1980-1983 lineup. The band’s most recent album, Black Ice, was released on 20 October 2008. It was their biggest hit on the charts since “For Those About to Rock, reaching #1 on all the charts eventually. AC/DC’s newest studio album, AC/DC: Iron Man 2 was released on April 19, 2010.

As of 2008, AC/DC have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 71 million albums in the United States. Back in Black has sold an estimated 49 million units worldwide, making it the highest-selling album by any band and the 2nd highest-selling album in history, behind Thriller by Michael Jackson. The album has sold 22 million in the US alone, where it is the fifth-highest-selling album. AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and was named the seventh “Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time” by MTV. In 2004, the band was ranked number 72 in the Rolling Stone list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.
